Being Caught
Brand Identity
2025
BACKGROUNDBeing Caught is an exhibition that curates the work of Alison Friend who is a UK-based artist. Alison Friend is known for creating portraits of animals that practice human-like activities. This exhibition specifically focuses on pets who pretend to be like humans and get caught with a witty expression. The exhibition opens from 15 December 2025 until 23 January 2026 at TATE Modern in London.
DESIGNBy expressing the act of “being caught”, the identity of the exhibition is based on the concept of a surveillance camera footage where it includes motifs of the viewfinder corners and timestamps with a monospace typeface. Although Alison’s paintings show wit and humour, the visual tone of her paintings evoke the style of Renaissance art. The design of the exhibition shows this similar juxtaposition by using warning colours of neon red, yellow, and black with a bold sans-serif logo to push the idea of “being caught” and using a delicate, classic serif that is reminiscent of her Renaissance art style.
